Silicone coated fiberglass provides superior flexibility, higher abrasion resistance, and better protection against molten splash compared to acrylic coated fiberglass. The silicone coating handles medium to heavy duty sparks, grinding, and arc gouging where acrylic coated blankets are rated for light to medium stick welding protection only. The silicone coating also maintains its flexibility at temperature extremes — the blanket stays pliable and easy to handle even after extended use in high-heat environments.

Can these blankets be used for grinding and arc gouging?

Yes. The Red Spark silicone coated fiberglass welding blankets are specifically rated for grinding and arc gouging environments, as well as barrier protection in molten splash and heavy abrasion areas. This is a key differentiator from acrylic coated and uncoated fiberglass blankets which are not rated for these applications.

Can these blankets be used for heat treating or stress relief?

Sewn and hemmed with high-heat fiberglass thread. #2 brass grommets punched on 2' centers on all four sides for flexible vertical hanging or horizontal positioning.
