Insulated Concrete Curing Blankets
Steel Guard Safety's insulated concrete curing blankets are made for winter enclosure tarps and have thick, tough reinforced 6 Mil or 8 Mil poly skins and a durable bonded poly insulation at 3/16", 3/8" or 1/2" thick. Excellent as a Concrete Curing Blanket or Insulated Curtain Barrier, the perimeter hems are folded and double stitched with UV resistant thread and are reinforced with grommets spaced every 36". Use these Concrete Curing Blankets to protect against the cold and wind on construction and industrial job sites. They can be used as a vertical curtain or as an insulating blanket. Steel Guard Safety's Concrete Blankets are manufactured with industrial strength thread, grommets, and high quality bonded poly foam reaching an R-value of 2.9, 3.5, or 5.7 when laid over a frame during concrete curing.

Choosing an R-Value
The three thicknesses are not interchangeable, and the right one depends on how cold it gets overnight and how long the pour has to hold heat.
- R-2.9 (3/16" poly PE foam) — the working standard for most winter pours. Light enough to move quickly across a large slab, and it ships from stock in 1 to 2 business days.
- R-3.5 (3/8" bubble cell layered core) — the step up when nights run into the teens or the pour needs to hold heat longer. Also stocked.
- R-5.7 (1/2" poly PE foam) — the heavy option, built to order in our own plant. Thicker foam, heavier skins, and the highest heat retention we make. Lead time is 25 to 35 business days, so specify it early in the season rather than the week you need it.
All three reach their stated R-value when laid over a frame, where an air pocket forms beneath the blanket and contributes to the total. Laid flat against the slab with no air gap, the effective value is lower.
Built for the Job Site
Maximize the efficacy of your construction projects with our top-tier Concrete Curing Blankets, engineered for optimal insulation and unparalleled durability. Our blankets are crafted from robust woven polyethylene, so they hold up to the rigors of a job site and offer longevity that outlasts a disposable cover.
Our selection of concrete blankets is designed to cater to various insulation needs, featuring multiple foam thicknesses that yield exceptional protective capabilities and high R-values for heat retention. The micro-foam used within our blankets is hydrophobic and resilient, so it does not waterlog and lose its insulating value partway through a season.
Also Available
Concrete Blankets 3/16" Thick — the R-2.9 blanket sold on its own, ships in 1 to 2 business days.

Concrete Curing Blanket FAQs
What R-value do I need for concrete curing?
It depends on overnight low temperatures and how long the pour has to hold heat. R-2.9 handles most winter pours where nights stay in the twenties and thirties. R-3.5 is the step up for sustained cold or a longer cure window. R-5.7 is for hard cold, thin sections that lose heat fast, or pours that have to stay protected for several days. When in doubt, size up. An under-insulated pour costs more to fix than the difference in blanket price.
What temperature can you pour concrete in?
Cold weather concreting practice generally applies once the average daily temperature falls below 40°F. Below that, concrete gains strength slowly and is at risk of freezing before it reaches the strength it needs. Curing blankets hold the heat of hydration in so the pour keeps curing rather than stalling. Consult your mix supplier and the project spec for the requirements on your job.
Do I need an air gap under the blanket?
The stated R-values assume an air pocket beneath the blanket, which is what forms when it is laid over a frame. Laid directly against the slab with no gap, the blanket still works but the effective insulation is lower than the rated number. On flatwork where framing is not practical, that is normal and expected. On a spec that calls for a specific R-value, frame it.
How many blankets do I need?
Measure the slab and add overlap. Blankets should overlap at the seams by at least 12 inches, and you want coverage past the slab edge, since edges and corners lose heat fastest. Finished sizes run slightly smaller than the nominal size, so buy to the coverage area rather than to the nominal square footage.
What is the difference between the 3/16", 3/8", and 1/2" blankets?
Foam thickness and construction. The 3/16" uses poly PE foam and reaches R-2.9. The 3/8" uses a bubble cell layered core and reaches R-3.5. The 1/2" uses thicker poly PE foam over heavier skins and reaches R-5.7, and it is built to order in our own plant with a 25 to 35 business day lead time. The 3/16" and 3/8" ship from stock in 1 to 2 business days.
Can concrete curing blankets be reused?
Yes. Reinforced poly skins and double stitched UV resistant hems are what let these survive multiple seasons where a lighter blanket does not. Let them dry fully before folding and storing. Storing wet is the fastest way to ruin one.
Can I use a curing blanket as a windbreak or curtain?
Yes. The grommets on the corners and long side centers are there for exactly that. Contractors hang these vertically to close in a work area or block wind off a pour. The same blanket that covers a slab overnight can be a temporary enclosure wall the next week.
Are concrete curing blankets returnable?
No. Concrete curing blankets are not refundable. Call us before you order if you are unsure which thickness or size you need and we will work it out with you first.
How fast do they ship?
The 3/16" and 3/8" usually ship in 1 to 2 business days. The 1/2" is made to order with a current lead time of 25 to 35 business days. Order the 1/2" ahead of the season rather than the week you need it.
